Bloggers with a View

For many of us, 2020 meant we had to forget about traveling or rethink how far we wanted to go. Reading the New Year’s posts on WordPress made me realise how much we suffered from this incapacity to do that common thing we’re very fond of. 2021 is still very uncertain in terms of what we’re going to be able to do…

Keeping this in mind while trying to stay sane myself, I thought it would be fun to gather a few bloggers I have regular interactions with around a little project. Often, we virtually “meet” at the end of a blog in the comment box, pointing out which photos we liked, which memories the chosen words woke up, or the interest of a challenge’s prompt. But sometimes it feels slightly isolating. See how needy I am these days?! That’s the perks of being an extrovert in a pandemic locked-down world!!

So… Motivated by a very selfish need to interact with people from all over the world, and the aspiration to give us all a little break from The Covid Blues, I asked to be virtually invited in compassionate bloggers’ homes to peek through their windows. It’s important to remember that our daily surrounding can be a little exotic for others. Even if we haven’t been able to travel much lately, our original habitat can be compelling, intriguing, or simply beautiful.

Please note this project is in no way a means to promote particular blogs or Instagram pages. Anyhow I’ve obviously added the links to those who played along, just in case you wanted to extend your virtual trip with them.

Bon voyage and thank you for traveling with us today…

PS: it’s probably obvious we’re not young geeky YouTubers – and I am most certainly not a qualified video editor!!! This is just a little bit of fun. Please be charitable!

  1. At times like this I’m so grateful for the time difference because it means I get to see masterpieces like this before heading to bed! WOW. SO. SO. COOL!!!! Absolutely love the soundtrack and glimpse into spots all around the world. This really helped me feel connected and expansive during a year that has otherwise felt anything but. THANK YOU for pulling this together – you made it look easy, but I know it couldn’t have been! ❤

    1. Thank you so much for your help. I feels good to be virtually surrounded by shiny happy people like you. Hopefully we’ll work on more projects in the future, and better ones! And then, we’ll rule the world!!!!

  2. A fantastic concept and fun way to share glimpses of our worlds. How lovely to see your little corner of the world and some other bloggers who I know. Vancouver island looks so wild! And it is always delightful to see snow!

    1. Thanks for joining in Amanda. It feels good to visit these “little corners of the world”, doesn’t it? Hopefully, we’ll do some more videos in the future and keep on freely travel around the globe until we can go back to normal – while improving our skills on the way!

  3. It’s great to see the finished result – what a wonderful variety of different views all around the world (and as I suspected they would be, all far more interesting / beautiful than mine!)

Just a constructive suggestion, if you don’t mind? Would future projects perhaps look even better if you ask contributors to film in landscape mode, like the last clip from Vancouver Island? I find so much black space around the videos a bit distracting and it also makes everything look smaller. Just a thought – ignore me if you have good reason to prefer it this way! 😀

    1. Exactly my way of thinking Sarah. At first I wanted to make it Instagram friendly which is the reason why I asked for a portrait format. But I regretted my choice afterwards. Next time will be better. You learn from your mistakes 👌 good point absolutely!

      1. I actually have already an idea. Maybe I’ll do it once a month? I’ll send you a PM in February. Amanda from Something to Ponder About is on to something too. Hopefully, there will be plenty of opportunities to work on future projects!

    Happy weekend, folks!

Considering that the future of travel is still up in the air (pun intended), I had the pleasure of collaborating with Véro from My French Chronicles to showcase beautiful views from around the world. Check out my part from Los Angeles (starts at 1:25)! Bonne journée! 🙂

    1. Thank you. I’m overwhelmed with the positive feedback. It feels great to have gathered so many people with that little video.
Stay tuned for the next one I’m planning for February. It might be more your kind of theme this time.

    1. Thank you Tina! Much appreciated. There will be more opportunities to join in in the future if you’re tempted. I know Amanda (Something to Ponder About) is putting something together next with the theme “sunrise all over the world” and I’ll be back next month with a new prompt 😉

    1. Excellent, and thank you Janis!! Amanda is working on something with the theme “sunrise” and I’ll be back at the end of this month with a new prompt as well. That would be fantastic to have you. Which part of the world are you in?
